Support

ST Remote is a one‑person project. If something isn't working, or a station is missing, email me directly and I'll get back to you personally.

Get help

Email info@oberwalder.net with a description of the problem, your iPhone model and iOS version, and your SoundTouch speaker model if relevant. Screenshots help a lot.

Requirements

  • A Bose SoundTouch speaker, connected to the same Wi‑Fi network as your iPhone.
  • iOS with Local Network access granted to ST Remote.

ST Remote can't find my speaker

  • Make sure your iPhone and your SoundTouch speaker are on the same Wi‑Fi network — not a guest network, and not cellular data.
  • Check Local Network permission: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network → make sure ST Remote is switched on.
  • Wake the speaker — a speaker in deep standby can take a moment to respond; try playing something from the Bose app once, or tap the speaker's own controls, then reopen ST Remote.
  • Restart your Wi‑Fi router if the speaker doesn't show up after a network change — SoundTouch speakers can be slow to reappear after a router reboot.

A station won't play

The built-in station catalog comes from the Radio-Browser community directory and covers around 40,000 stations worldwide. Stations are run by their broadcasters and can go offline or change. If a specific station won't play:

  • Try a different station to confirm it's not a network issue.
  • The station's own server may simply be down — try again later.
  • If a station consistently fails, email me the station name so I can check it for the next catalog update.

Multiroom and grouping

All speakers you want to group need to be on the same Wi‑Fi network. If a speaker won't join a group, try waking it first (see above), then create the group again.

Frequently asked questions

  • Does ST Remote need an account? No — there's no sign‑up or login.
  • Does ST Remote work with non‑Bose speakers? No, it's built specifically for Bose SoundTouch hardware.
  • Does ST Remote need an internet connection? Only your speaker does, to stream a station; ST Remote itself talks to the speaker over your local Wi‑Fi.
  • Is my data safe? ST Remote collects no data at all — see the privacy policy.
