Support

OrderPad is a one-person project. If something isn't adding up, a backup isn't showing up, or anything looks off, email me directly and I'll get back to you personally.

Get help

Email info@oberwalder.net with a description of the problem, your device model, and whether you're on iOS or Android. Screenshots help a lot.

Requirements

  • A recent version of iOS or Android, on iPhone, iPad, or an Android phone or tablet.
  • An iCloud or Google Drive account is optional, only needed if you turn on backup.
  • Stations and printers need the devices to be on the same local network (Wi-Fi/LAN). No internet connection is required.

Stations, tickets and printers

  • Make sure the waiter device and the station (or printer) are on the same Wi-Fi network. On iPhone and iPad, allow OrderPad to find devices on your local network when asked (Settings › OrderPad › Local Network).
  • If a ticket shows “not delivered”, the order is still safe: it is retried automatically, and you can tap Resend as soon as the station is reachable again.
  • Ready alerts arrive while the app is open. If it was in the background or the screen was locked, you will see the alert as soon as you open it again. The optional Keep Screen On setting helps a station stay reachable but uses more battery.
  • To re-pair a station, show its QR code in Settings and scan it again from the waiter device. After restoring a backup, stations show “not paired” until you do this.
  • Printers must understand ESC/POS. Network printers use TCP port 9100 (use Find Printers or type host:port); Bluetooth printers are picked under Bluetooth Printers — on Android pair classic printers in the system settings first, on iPhone and iPad only Bluetooth LE printers work. Use Print Test Ticket to check one. Star printers need ESC/POS emulation switched on.

My totals look wrong

  • Double-check the price and quantity entered for each item — OrderPad calculates totals automatically from what's entered, so a wrong total usually traces back to one order line.
  • If you're using split or partial payments, check that the amounts across all payment methods for that table add up to the full bill.

My backup isn't showing up on my other device

  • Make sure backup is turned on in OrderPad's settings on both devices, and that both are signed into the same iCloud or Google Drive account.
  • Backup only syncs while OrderPad has network access — an offline device won't see a backup made elsewhere until it reconnects.
  • iCloud and Google Drive backups don't cross over between iOS and Android — an iPhone backup restores on another iPhone or iPad, and an Android backup restores on another Android device.

I can't find my exported report

Exported PDF/CSV reports go wherever you sent them from the share sheet — check the app or location you chose at export time (Files, email, a cloud storage app, and so on). OrderPad itself doesn't keep a separate copy once you've exported and shared it.

Frequently asked questions

  • Does OrderPad need an account? No — there's no sign-up or login.
  • Does OrderPad work offline? Yes — the whole app works fully offline; only optional cloud backup needs an internet connection.
  • Is OrderPad a replacement for a cash register? No — see the privacy policy for details.
  • Does my data sync between iPhone and Android? No — there's no shared account or server, so data on an iPhone and an Android device stay separate; only iCloud (iOS) or Google Drive (Android) backup syncs a device with its own future restores.
