Privacy Policy
FIT Compare compares bike rides — yours and your friends’. It has no account system, no server of its own, and no analytics or advertising. Your rides stay on your devices and in your own iCloud, unless you share a ride with a group of friends.
Data the app uses
- Rides you import — FIT files you open, drop or import (GPS route, elevation, speed, heart rate, cadence, power, temperature, and the device that recorded them). The original file is kept so rides can be re-analysed and shared.
- Apple Health (iPad) — with your permission, FIT Compare reads cycling workouts and their routes, heart rate, power, cadence, speed and distance, and imports the ones you choose as rides. It does not write to Apple Health.
- Riders — names and colours you give yourself and your friends, and the serial numbers of the devices their files came from (to assign the next file automatically).
Where your data is stored
- On your devices, in the app’s library.
- In your iCloud — if you are signed in to iCloud, the library syncs between your own Mac and iPad through your private iCloud database. Neither the developer nor anyone else can access it.
- In a group you share with — when you share a ride to a group, that ride (its FIT file, or for Apple Health rides its recorded data, including the route and heart rate) is stored in the group’s iCloud area and becomes visible to the group’s members, who can add it to their own libraries. You choose which rides to share; removing a ride from the group removes it from the group, but not from libraries it was already added to.
Services the app uses
- Apple Maps — maps, and place names for routes (the start and the farthest point of a route are looked up to name it). These requests go to Apple, not to the developer.
- iCloud / CloudKit — for syncing your library and for groups.
What the app does not do
No tracking, no analytics, no advertising, no crash‑reporting or other third‑party SDKs, no selling or sharing of data with third parties, no account with the developer. Health data is never used for advertising. If you have opted in to “Share With App Developers” in system settings, Apple may share anonymized crash diagnostics with the developer; that is controlled entirely by your device settings.
Your control
- Delete rides, riders, routes and groups in the app at any time.
- Leave a group, or delete a group you created (for all members).
- Turn off Health access in Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices › FIT Compare.
- Turn off iCloud for the app in Settings › [your name] › iCloud.
- Deleting the app removes its data from the device; data in your iCloud can be removed in Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Storage.
